Artists from Saugerties are invited to submit a proposal for a 4’ by 8’ mural to be encased in an aluminum frame and prominently shown on the wall of Speedy Mart at the corner of Market and Main in Saugerties Village.

All applications are reviewed by the Art Advisory Committee, a panel of four Saugerties professionals from varying disciplines. 

Selection Criteria:

• Artistic merit and experience of Artist 

• Aesthetically pleasing

• Appropriate for the public realm

• Appeal to a wide audience

• Artist shows knowledge of durable mural materials

• Artist shows knowledge of durable mural materials

Application must include a thorough sketch that includes color schemes and a written description of the project. Artists should submit a resume or paragraph about past artistic work that shows a capability and skill with larger scale work. 

Proposals that include commercial advertising, branding, or marketing will not be approved.

Process for creation: Following preliminary application approval, the artist meets with the Art Advisory Committee to finalize a project schedule, review installation plan, project materials, and technical needs.

Insurance: ShoutOut, with the commercial host, Speedy Mart, provides general liability (CGL) insurance.

Duration: Installations typically remain on display for four to six months with a maximum display period of eight months.
